Plasmon has re-launched its RAID product, courtesy of NetApp, with Plasmon’s software providing a two-tiered storage capability with online disk and online optical archival UDO drives - which can be taken off-site. The new NetArchive product integrates NetApp RAID technologies with Plasmon’s Archive Appliance and data management software to allow customers to provision data within NetArchive according to its unique storage requirements. It’s policy-driven with data moving automatically between the NetApp storage and the archival drives.
Seagate Technology has unveiled a network hard drive that allows families to back up their media collection. The Maxtor Central Axis network drive provides up to one terabyte of storage which can be linked to multiple computers in a home, to allow for video, photo and music files to be centrally backed-up. Automatic back-up of the computer on the network can also be carried out by the Maxtor Central Axis network drive, removing the responsibility from the user to save data on the second system.
RAID Inc., a customized storage solution and services provider specializing in leading edge technologies, has entered into an OEM agreement with NEC Corporation of America, a premier provider of IT, network and identity management solutions. RAID will license NEC’s D-Series Enterprise Modular Storage products and sell them under the RAID Inc.’s brand. The new product line will be incorporated into RAID Inc.’s suite of storage solutions for the high performance computing (HPC), government, research and corporate markets.
Data Robotics has launched the second generation of its Drobo storage product. Among the new features is the addition of FireWire 800 for faster read and speeds. The new units also include an upgraded core processor and an optimized firmware. According to Data Robotics, the new Drobo “addresses the needs of any user seeking a reliable method of managing vast amounts of data without sacrificing performance; from video editors, to heavy down-loaders, to photographers who shoot raw images.”
